JDCR on the right with other korean players

JDCR is one of the most well known Tekken player from Korea. You may have seen him on Tekken Crash, WCG, and other big international tournaments. We don't really know him too well but after finding out Fighting GM (winner of the last three VATR Tournaments) is going to a tournament in Finland, we found out JDCR will also be in attendance. To allow others to hear some of his thoughts and to know him better we were lucky to have the chance to conduct an interview with this highly skilled Armor King player. Millionz starts by saying . . .

1. First off, thanks for taking the time to take part in this interview. So you're going to Finland to a tournament? How many international events have you gone to, and how do you feel about travelling for Tekken. What's the competition like in the different places you have travelled to?
In December 2009, I went to Hong Kong, as the representative of Korea, to compete in a tournament called AGS, which I won. In March 2010, I went to Japan to attend Japan Global Championship which I also won. The same year I attended MLG Dallas but unfortunately I lost T.T That's all in regards to my international record and history. I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to attend tournaments outside of Korea. Good friends of mine were able to give me a tour to the various places I traveled to and even provided me a place to crash. We competed in the same tournaments and just chilled~ I have a lot of friends overseas and I was able to build relationships with them, which is hard for players my age to have experienced haha.

In regards to the question asked, I feel the players in Hong Kong aren't as good as the players of the countries I have competed in. Japan has about the same skill level as Korean players. MLG Dallas was the first tournament I attended in America. I was shocked. Their play-style was quite different from Koreans. In America, I was jet lagged and because of the vast difference in play-style, I did not perform well. After MLG, I attended a tournament in Germany in which I was not as jet lagged, so I performed better. One thing I regret, during my stay in Germany, was being involved in other activities which limited my ability to travel T.T Unrelated to tournaments, I'm pretty close with some players in Singapore so I visited them just to chill in 2010 and 2011.

2. When you were in America what the most delicious thing you ate?
To be honest, I couldn't go around or travel a lot… so this one steak house my friend took me to was the best!

3. Thanks to guys like LDMaxi and the emergence of Tekken Crash, the korean scene is a lot more well known around the world. How does you feel about the exposure the Korean scene is getting around the world.
In Korea there are a lot of great players and even though they don't perform well in Tekken Crash, many of them actually are highly skilled. As you know, Tekken Crash is single elimination, so sometimes you need luck. That's why there are some good players that don't do well. LDMaxi contributed to the globalization of Korea's Tekken scene. I wish he comes back to Korea and continue recording videos. I'm really happy that Korea is getting a lot of recognition, globally.

4. Give me your thoughts on who you think the to players are from the following regions and give reasons why: Japan, US, Europe.
I've only met Nobi, Yu [spelling?], and AO during tournaments in Japan XD
I watched Japanese players' matches and I noticed there are a lot of great players.
I think it's because their arcade culture is well developed, which I envy!
Korean players consider Nobi as Japan's top TTT2 player.
Yu has been the top player in Japan for awhile. I think he's been a fan of the series for a long time now.
I met AO at the tournament in Germany; I think he's very good.
I'm curious to know if AO still uses Alisa in TTT2 considering she got nerfed.

America has Fab, Anakin, GM, KOR, etc…
America has a very different play-style from Korea so I was shocked
I'm not as shocked with their play-style as I was, so I am more confident playing them XD
When I was in America, I got a lot of games in with Fab and he was very friendly to me. He's a very good player.
The first time I played GM was in Germany, where he made me realize that Lee used at 100% HP is a good character.
In Korea, Lee at 110% HP is not recognized as a good character but at 100% HP he is strong enough.
I haven't played Anakin and KOR that much but I can tell both are great players.

In Europe there is Sephi (Miguel), Emperor (Jack), and Killerdoll (Armor King)…
I've been to Europe only once so I haven't played with many of them.

5. What are your thoughts on TTT2 so far? Also, Even though it's just been announced, any thoughts on TTT2 unlimited and the 1v2,1v1 options?
TTT2 is an extremely well made game. TTT2 is very Tekken-like and two characters can share a bound combo, however, there are a few characters that makes them too strong as a team [assuming he's talking about Bryan and Hwoarang] so I wish there was a patch to fix it. Also, it's very different from T6 BR so I need to practice a lot T.T

TTT2 Unlimited's 1v2, 1v1 is a brilliant idea. Whether you choose one character or two characters, there are certainly pros and cons, so it will require more skill. I feel like this will lead tournaments to have different Tekken tournaments [1v1, 1v2, 2v2], but I'm not sure yet because it's not released yet yet but I do think it would be fun!

6. Any words for the millionz (wink wink) of JDCR fans out there?
I feel weird calling them fans of mine.
Thank you for your supportive messages.
Because we [Korea] don't speak English primarily, I'm not good at it, but I'm trying to get better.
I always welcome Facebook friend requests and Twitter XD

Below are some questions asked by players within the VATR Community:

ForMyNinjas: Do you like chocolate milk? Will you do a ft10 with me. You put up a Korean girl and I'll put up a white girl.
I like chocolate milk. I also like regular milk and coffee. What's ft10? Yea, I like Korean girls hahaha

Grimy Grizzly: Will you be attending Final Round? And if you so, will you do a money match with me?
I want to attend but it's not easy for me to travel. Airplane tickets are a primary concern and there's the language barrier. Also I don't have a place to crash. I don't think I'll be able to attend but if I do go I sure will be happy haha

Dangstro: Who do you consider the best Korean player?
There are too many but if I had to choose the top three players, for 6BR it would have to be Sunchip, Knee, and Nin… for TTT2 Knee, Saint, and Hao
Everyone is so good it's hard to eliminate them to three players.
